Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 update featuring new maps, Shoot House, weapons and DMZ X01.

MW4 Season 1 Update Is Live: Shoot House, New Maps & Weapon Changes

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 has arrived on November 6, bringing a major content update for Multiplayer and DMZ players.

The first season introduces new maps, returning game modes, two launch weapons, weapon balance adjustments and a new underground DMZ location. There are also important technical changes for console players, including expanded 120Hz Performance Mode support.

If you're jumping into MW4 today, here's what you should know before your first match.

MW4 Season 1 Release Date and Launch Time

Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 launched on November 6, 2026.

Activision scheduled the launch for midnight Eastern Time on November 6, which corresponds to 6:00 AM in Albania and Central Europe.

The update is available across supported platforms, with new content arriving in Multiplayer and DMZ.

All New Multiplayer Maps in Season 1

Four map experiences join the Multiplayer rotation.

- Backstab: A new 6v6 map set in a snow-covered, war-torn town. Players can use buildings, rooftops and destroyed structures to control sightlines and flank opponents.

- Canyon: A new 6v6 environment featuring wide-open spaces, towering rock formations, caves and elevated positions. Movement and cover will be especially important.

- Shoot House: The popular three-lane map returns in a new setting, giving players a familiar environment for fast-paced close and medium-range fights.

- Kill Block: Crash: A featured 6v6 map combination bringing Crash into the Kill Block playlist experience.

For players who enjoy traditional fast-paced Multiplayer, Shoot House is one of the biggest reasons to jump back into the game.

Grind and Drop Zone Return

Season 1 also brings back two familiar Multiplayer modes.

Grind

Eliminate opponents, collect their Dog Tags and bring them to the Bank to score points for your team. Simply getting eliminations isn't enough — you need to secure and deposit the tags.

Drop Zone

Teams compete to control a rotating objective. Holding the objective gives your team access to Killstreak packages, making teamwork and positioning important.

A separate Gauntlet 1v1 mode is also planned through the Wager Match Event, but it is listed as coming soon rather than being available at launch.

Two New Weapons Arrive

Season 1 introduces two new base weapons.

Cronen Osprey – Assault Rifle

This 5.56 assault rifle is designed around a high fire rate while maintaining control, accuracy and mobility. It could become an interesting option for players who prefer aggressive rifle gameplay.

CSG-35 – Submachine Gun

The CSG-35 is designed for close-range combat and features an Akimbo option, allowing players to dual-wield the weapon at the cost of accuracy.

Two additional weapons are planned during the season: the JAK 12 Shotgun and the ZLR Talonhawk melee weapon.

Important Weapon Balance Changes

The Season 1 update also changes the balance of several existing weapons.

Some of the most notable adjustments include:

- Axion: Increased medium damage range by 11% and muzzle velocity by 13%.

- Kastov 762: Improved medium damage range and several hit-location multipliers.

- M4: Increased maximum damage range and headshot multiplier.

- Hyeon Burst Hyperburst Apex Attachment: Its maximum damage was reduced from 30 to 23, while minimum damage dropped from 25 to 20.

The Hyeon Burst attachment adjustment is particularly important for players who relied on its previous damage profile.

These changes could influence which weapons players choose as they begin testing the new season. The best loadout will still depend on the map, engagement distance and personal playstyle.

DMZ Gets a New Underground Location: X01

DMZ receives one of the biggest additions in Season 1.

The new X01 location is an underground weapons facility connected to the Hajin Exclusion Zone. It was previously identified as a GRANIT Arms black site.

Players can explore its tunnels and chambers, discover new threats and equipment, and complete additional DMZ Orders.

The location also introduces new challenges involving extraction, squad coordination and exploration.

For DMZ players, X01 is one of the most interesting additions in the new season.

Important Console Change: 120Hz Performance Mode

There is another update worth knowing about if you play on console.

Infinity Ward has expanded Performance Mode at 120Hz to all PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players with compatible 120Hz displays, regardless of whether their display supports VRR.

Variable Refresh Rate is still recommended for the best experience.

This is an important improvement for players who want smoother gameplay and have a compatible television or monitor.

Season 1 Battle Pass: A New Catch-Up System

Season 1 introduces a streamlined, linear 100-tier Battle Pass.

One notable change is the new catch-up system for Battle Pass owners. It automatically advances eligible rewards to the tier corresponding with the current season day, up to Day 50.

The Battle Pass includes new weapons, Operator skins, weapon blueprints, finishing moves, calling cards, charms, reticles, Double XP Tokens and COD Points.

Players who complete all 100 tiers will also have an opportunity to earn additional bonus rewards later in the season.

What Should You Try First in MW4 Season 1?

If you're returning to Modern Warfare 4 today, here is a practical way to experience the new season:

1. Start with Shoot House if you enjoy familiar, fast-paced Multiplayer action.

2. Try Backstab and Canyon to learn the new maps and their different sightlines.

3. Test the Cronen Osprey and CSG-35 to see which fits your playstyle.

4. Experiment with Grind and Drop Zone if you prefer objective-based matches.

5. If you play DMZ, explore X01 with your squad and prepare for its underground environment.

6. If you have a compatible 120Hz display, check your console's video settings and make sure you can use the updated Performance Mode.

Is MW4 Season 1 Worth Coming Back For?

Season 1 brings a meaningful collection of new content rather than just cosmetic additions. The return of Shoot House, the arrival of Backstab and Canyon, the new weapons and the X01 DMZ location give players several reasons to explore the update.

The weapon balance adjustments may also change the way Multiplayer matches develop over the coming days.

Of course, the real test will be how these changes feel after players spend time with the update.

AIDigitKeys will continue following Modern Warfare 4 updates, new weapons, balance changes and community feedback.
