EA FC 27 Free Version Is Here: Everything You Need to Know About FC 27 Lite

EA FC 27 is officially available, and players can now play a free version without buying the full game. EA SPORTS FC 27 Lite gives players a limited but playable version of FC 27, including Kick-Off, Learn to Play, Online Friendlies and Online Seasons.

If you're wondering what is included, which teams you can use, whether Ultimate Team is available, whether Career Mode works, and how FC 27 Lite compares with the full game, here is everything you need to know.

What Is EA FC 27 Lite?

EA SPORTS FC 27 Lite is the free-to-download version of EA FC 27.

Unlike the EA Play trial, FC 27 Lite isn't simply a 10-hour trial of the complete game. It is designed as a limited preview experience with selected game modes.

That means you can download it, play the available modes and get a taste of FC 27 without purchasing the full version.

The available content can change depending on updates and territory, so EA may adjust what is available over time.

What Can You Play for Free?

FC 27 Lite currently includes four main experiences:

Kick-Off

You can play local matches using a limited selection of teams.

At launch, EA lists:

Real Madrid Men's Team

Bayern Munich Men's Team

Chelsea Women's Team

OL Lyonnes Women's Team

EA also says the available content can rotate, meaning the selection isn't necessarily permanent.

Kick-Off includes:

Classic Match

House Rules

Rush 3v3

So if you simply want to jump into a match and play some football, FC 27 Lite gives you that option.

Learn to Play

New to EA FC?

The free version includes Learn to Play, where you can practice the basics and improve your skills before taking your team online.

This makes FC 27 Lite particularly useful for players who haven't played an EA FC game recently.

Online Friendlies

You can also play Online Friendlies with your friends.

This means FC 27 Lite isn't restricted to offline matches. You can challenge another player online without purchasing the full game.

For many players, this could be one of the biggest reasons to download the free version.

Online Seasons

FC 27 Lite also includes Online Seasons.

You can play 1v1 online matches and compete through the divisions, giving the free version a more competitive experience than a simple demo.

So if your main goal is:

Pick a real club → play online → compete → climb divisions

FC 27 Lite lets you do that.

Is Ultimate Team Free in FC 27 Lite?

No.

Football Ultimate Team is not included in FC 27 Lite.

If you want the full Ultimate Team experience, you'll need the full version of EA SPORTS FC 27.

That means FC 27 Lite isn't a free way to access the complete FUT experience.

Can You Play Career Mode for Free?

No.

Manager Career isn't included in FC 27 Lite.

The full Career Mode experience requires the full version of EA SPORTS FC 27.

So if you're downloading FC 27 Lite specifically because you want to build a club, manage transfers, develop players and play through multiple seasons, the free version won't provide that experience.

Is The Grounds Available?

No.

The Grounds is also excluded from FC 27 Lite.

The new social football experience is part of the full FC 27 package rather than the free Lite version.

The free version is therefore much more than a traditional offline demo, but it is still significantly smaller than the full game.

FC 27 Lite vs Full FC 27

The easiest way to understand the difference is this:

FC 27 Lite

Free

You get:

Kick-Off

Learn to Play

Online Friendlies

Online Seasons

Limited teams/content

Online multiplayer experiences

Full EA FC 27

You get access to the complete FC 27 experience, including:

Ultimate Team

Manager Career

Player Career

The Grounds

The complete game content

Additional modes and features

EA allows players to upgrade from Lite to the full game.

Which Platforms Have FC 27 Lite?

FC 27 Lite is available on:

PlayStation

Xbox

EA app

Steam

Epic Games Store

Availability can vary by territory and content can change over time.

On Xbox, FC 27 Lite is available for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Do You Need Internet to Play FC 27 Lite?

Yes.

FC 27 Lite requires a persistent internet connection.

So this isn't a free offline version that you can install and play completely disconnected from the internet.

An EA Account is also required.

Don't Confuse FC 27 Lite With the 10-Hour EA Play Trial

This is important.

There are two different ways to play FC 27 without buying the full game immediately.

FC 27 Lite

Free-to-download limited version

You can play:

Kick-Off

Learn to Play

Online Friendlies

Online Seasons

EA Play Trial

10-hour trial of FC 27

EA Play members get access to a 10-hour trial of the full game.

When the trial ends, additional hours aren't added.

Progress from the EA Play trial carries over if you purchase the full game.

So:

FC 27 Lite = limited free version

EA Play = 10-hour trial of the full experience

They are not the same thing.

Is FC 27 Lite Worth Downloading?

If you only want to play occasional football matches, FC 27 Lite gives you a free way to get onto the pitch without purchasing the full game.

You can:

Play against friends online

Play Online Seasons

Practice your skills

Play selected Kick-Off content

Try FC 27 before buying the full version

But if your main reason for playing FC 27 is Ultimate Team, Career Mode or The Grounds, Lite won't replace the full game.

One Important Thing About the Free Version

Don't expect FC 27 Lite to contain everything from the full game.

EA describes it as a streamlined introduction to FC 27, and the available modes, features and content can change.

The free version is essentially designed to let players try FC 27 and play selected parts of the game, rather than give away the complete experience.

Final Thoughts

EA FC 27 Lite gives players a genuinely free way to experience part of EA SPORTS FC 27 without immediately buying the full game.

For casual players, Online Seasons players and anyone who simply wants to test FC 27 before spending money, the free version provides a useful starting point.

But for players interested in Ultimate Team, Career Mode, The Grounds and the complete FC 27 experience, the full game is still required.

And that's the biggest thing to remember:

FC 27 Lite is free — but it is not the full EA FC 27.
